Throughout this year so far there are many things I have learned, from things in photoshop to projects in Adobe Illustrator. Mostly I enjoyed using photoshop to do many assignments such as the 12 days of photoshop and the selfie project. Three of my favorite projects were the selfie project, paper lanterns and the 12 days of photoshop. They each took a while and I had to learn something in order to finish it. They also were all fun and I think turned out pretty well, especially my selfie project which is probably my favorite assignment. If I could re-visit any project it would probably have to be the paper lanterns because it took a lot of time which we all didn't have, I believe I would have been able to make them so much better than they already are. I can not really think of another skill I would like to learn but from the first half of the year whatever we do next will probably be enjoyable anyways.
For both of my point of view projects I used things that can be interpreted differently to everyone. For the Chaos vs Order one it shows a clean binder for order and messy binder for chaos but to some people a messy binder can be their order and a clean binder is their chaos. Similar to the first the Failure point of view one shows how failing to someone is different to another. If you are extremely good in school an A can be a bad grade and to others a C- which isn't failing but still is terrible to them. For an F this is also a failure which is actually a failure in the books.
For the twelve days of photoshop project I tried thinking of funny and creative things for each picture. For the pop icon on a sculpture I used King Tut and Nicholas Cage but put him on both statues because they went well. Also I used pictures of him looking down so they fit the statues better and blended his face in. For the literal interpretation I used waterfall and used a man falling and a puddle, as if he is falling on water. For bad mail I used a shark fin coming out of the Fed-Ex box making it look like a shark is waiting for someone in the mail. For scrambled body parts I used a man yelling and gave him cat paws so he has animal body parts. Lastly for the holiday mash up I used the famous Last Dinner and put in a Thanksgiving turkey and a Christmas tree.
For this project the reason I picked most of my pictures was because they represent me the most. Most of them are of my friends who I love or they are things that I love in my life. They're also of my animals who I enjoy. The way I laid out my pictures was so they all went together nicely and fit around me. Also they weren't as important as me but were still there enough to see and know what they were.
A selfie is taken by the person in the picture of themselves, a self portrait can be taken by anyone but is of yourself. I looked for cool of reflective surfaces to take the pictures in such as windows and paper towel dispensers. I think they came out pretty good, you can see my face and details on my face even though its not actually a mirror. The picture that represents me the most is the second because it has Payton in it too and I enjoy my friends. For my lantern I used Adobe Illustrator to make different designs. When I tried a few and picked two designs I used the program to make a pattern with the designs then printed it out. Then I proceeded to cut out the shapes and fold them to make them stick out. For taking my pictures, first I took some with the lantern lying flat and moved the light until I got bigger and better shadows. After I put my lantern together I took more photos doing the same thing, using the light to make the best shadows possible.
Realistic means that you can clearly see what the image is. Abstract means the image is changed in some way but you can still tell what it is. Non-Objective means you can not tell what the image is because it is changed so greatly. The first image is realistic and clearly a computer mouse. The second image is obscure but you can still tell that it is a computer mouse. The last image is changed so much you can not tell its a computer mouse.
Depth of field is the range in a photo that appears to be shaper then other parts of the picture. Aperture is a space through which light passes in an optical or photographic instrument, especially the variable opening by which light enters a camera and certain areas of a photo light passes through creating depth of field. I focused in on certain areas in the photos, such as only the background trees or the leaves in front. |
